I’m lactose-intolerant, so if the recipe did not call for dairy, that would be better, but I would still accept some that use a small amount. I’m a college student and can’t afford to go to starbucks everyday and am looking for a cheaper at-home alternative to their frappachinnos. Thanks!

I use the recipe below for chocolate buttercream, how would I use it to make coffee buttercream? Should I substitue the melted chocolate + vanilla essence for a certain amount of coffee granules (dissolved in hot water)? If so, any ideas how much? Many thanks
250g (9oz) Icing Sugar, sifted
125g (4½oz) Butter, softened
30g (1oz) Plain Chocolate (70% cocoa solids), melted
1-2 tbsp Milk or Cream
Vanilla Extract, a few drops
Cream the butter and sugar until soft and light.
Add the vanilla and melted chocolate and enough milk (or cream) to produce a fairly stiff spreading consistency.
Makes 400g (14oz)

If you use your mug as the measuring device for all your ingredients then your recipe will turn out just fine. Examples…
Your recipe calls for:
2 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
spices and baking powder (by the spoonful)
And you use:
2 mugs flour
1/4 mug sugar
1/2 mug milk
and spoons of spices and baking powder
The taste and texture would remain the same. You might have to cook yours for just a little longer than theirs. But that is all.
