When giving instructions for a recipe they often say a CUP OF… Do they mean a TEA cup , like a mug , then a big measure or a COFFEE cup , which is much smaller than the other one? Thanks.

well, the recipes do mean 250g (a cup)…
but whenever baking, the ingredients are based on RATIO (sugar amount relative to flour should be double, etc).
THUS, if you start using a coffee cup for one ingredient then a teacup for the other, it wont turn out…
but if you use a single cup throughout…. it’ll still turn out.

I use measuring cups but to me the measuring cup is about the same size as a tea cup or a small coffee mug.

its a standard cup, 250mls or grams. you probably need a measuring cup from the supermarket or somewhere like that

Neither. A cup is a measured 8 ounces. You can find the measuring cups almost anywhere like Target, Walmart, Macy’s, probably Safeway too or any store that sells kitchenware. Have fun!

actually they mean a CUP measure… you get actual cup measures (made by PYREX, etc) and spoon measures which you should use while measuring quantities during cooking. If you use an ordinary cup from your kitchen, the ingredient quantity will vary depending on the size and type of your cup you use! Go to a kitchen supply store and buy a cup measure which will mark out oz, ml., 1/2 cup, 1/4 cup, etc.
