How Many Oz. In A Coffee Maker Cup?

September 28th, 2009 by Rexx

I’ve always wondered if the cup ratings on a coffee maker like 12 cups means 12 8oz cups or 12 6oz. cups? The reason I ask is because every container of ground coffee I buy has the recipe in 6oz cups such as: “Use 1 rounded tablespoon for each 6oz cup.” So is my coffee pot 96 total oz or 72?

Usually a “cup” for coffee is six ounces.

Usually they mean 6oz. A standard cup of liquid is 8oz. The only way to be sure is to fill the pot and then pour out into a measuring cup and count the ounces!
