Does it CALL for coffee? Generally you don’t add any coffee to a coffee cake because it is just supposed to be served WITH coffee. But if you are making a coffee-flavored coffee cake, the recipe should say. Otherwise add just enough to get the cake to the proper consistency.

Coffee cake doesn’t have coffee in it. You drink coffee with it.

I have a great recipe for a coffee flavoured cake that calls for 30ml (sorry, I don’t know what that is in imperial) of espresso coffee or any good quality instant coffee dissolved in boiling water. You don’t need a lot, it’s just the suggestion of coffee you want, you don’t want it to be overpowering.

I think it’s 2 tablespoons of coffee per cup of flour.

if it doesn’t say, don’t put any in … just follow the recipe. You shouldn’t be improvising until you have a little more common sense

Coffee cake does not contain coffee. If you would like a great coffee flavored cake, then make a Tiramisu! They are the best.
