Walnuts, yes. Well, why don't you just try letting the dough set for a few minutes, then dash the chips in, stirring them up,..the same as I add walnut chips? Put the oven heat a little higher than the recipe says, but leave it a shorter length of time. This should stop the "sinkage". Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.
