What Can I Drink Or Take To Replace Coffee If I Have Gerd? Also Other Meals To Make For Dinner?

February 17th, 2010 by Rexx

I have suffered with this disorder for years and its gotten worse. Since I live with stress and depression, I am always sleepy during morning hours and after meals. I love coffee but its become unbearable. I get so much acid that I feel that I need to change my eating and drinking habits. I am tired of making my favorite meals as well but suffering. Mostly stuff like Spagetti and meatballs, tacos, Mexican rice, BBQ, Potato salad, and the list goes on and on but it seems that everything gives me acid and gas. Will changing my diet help, I do need to lose at least 20 lbs. I need alternatives to caffeine to get energy and new recipes my family will enjoy as well. Thanks.

I have GERD too….take 20mg of Prilosec every morning and then eat and drink what I want with no problems. If after taking Prilosec for at least a month and something still bothers you, don’t eat or drink it.

Since you like drinking coffee you can try Kava it’s acid reduced and good for persons with GERD. I feel you should discus these problems with your doctor. If you’ve tried some of these solutions already, try seeing an allergist/immunologist they’re could be something in the food that doesn’t agree with you. You should try eating more yogurt and try some acidophilus milk and there are also acid reduced spaghetti sauces.
The thing that worked for me was taking antihistimine(Benadryl) and that helped. Since you’re overweight take your diet into consideration and eliminate as much junk from it as you can(cookies, chips, etc.) processed foods and eat more fruits and vegs. and use butter instead of margarine.
Hope I’ve pointed you in the right direction.
