Any citrus zest, extract, liquour, etc., would work. I’ve got one that uses peppermint (I believe) oil that my mom used to make during holiday, and I’ll see if I can find the recipe and post it. I too dislike sweet sweets

Instead of vanilla extract, you could use almond extract, orange extract, lemon extract, maple extract, coconut extract, rum extract, pineapple extract, lemon zest, orange zest.
Just keep your selections to things that will not change the basic texture of the batter.

I happen to have this link open right now, planning to make it tomorrow.http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/v…
A few variations that are generally ok to swirl into any recipe include: whole fresh berries, chocolate chips, sub coffee for part of the liquid, sub any flavored liqueur for the vanilla.

you can always do what my cooking teacher did with the cream cheese before it set to form. She made 2 types both of the them she used homemade preserves, 1 of them with orange maralade, & the other 1 with red rashpberry sauce (Mainly a jam). They turned out so yummy too.

i always add some orange and lemon zest. its easy just make your cheesecake like yo normally would. and when you finish with all the other ingredients simply add the zest and bam instant subtle flavor.
