What’s The Best Topping For A New York Cheesecake That I Can Make Out Of The Ingredients Which I Have?
January 23rd, 2010 by Rexx
I have chocolate syrup/ganache texture, walnuts and pecans, caramelized apples (which taste more bitter and wine-like than sweet), blueberries, bananas, and instant coffee. Out of these ingredients, what are some recipes for a suitable topping for a New York cheesecake (which I just finished baking)?

A new york cheesecake is best on it’s own, with no topping. A drizzle of chocolate syrup on the plate would be good, just for a pretty presentation.

Are the pecans halves or pieces? If pieces, sprinkle them over the top and drizzle with chocolate syrup. If halves, place them in a circular pattern around the top of the cheesecake and then put three to five in the center in a flower shape. Before serving the cheesecake drizzle the chocolate sauce in a zig zag or swirly pattern on the plate, then top with a slice of cake. If you happen to have caramel topping, you can drizzle one way with the chocolate and make a ‘grid’ going the other way with caramel.

Well, if you are only looking for topping, I would go with mixed banana, chocolate and chopped pecan on the top
or next time try this with chocolate ganache and nuts topping:
Chimpanzee Cheesecake
CRUST
1-1/2 cups Graham Cracker Crumbs
1/4 cup Sugar — Granulated
1/2 c butter, melted
CHEESECAKE
1 pound Cream Cheese
1/4 cup Sugar — Granulated
2 teaspoons Lemon Juice
4 each Eggs — Large
1 cup Sour Cream
1 cup Bananas; Mashed (app. 3 bananas)
CRUST:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Place the crumbs in a mixing bowl and add the butter and sugar. Blend well. Press the crumb mixture onto the bottom and partly up the sides of a greased 9-inch springform pan. Smooth the crumb mixture along the bottom to an even thickness. Bake for about 10 minutes in the oven at 350 degrees F. Cool before filling.
CHEESECAKE:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar and lemon juice together. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the sour cream and the mashed bananas and blend well until very smooth. Pour the mixture into the prepared crust and bake for 1 hour. Cool in the oven, with the door propped open, until the cake is at room temperature. Chill until serving time.

I would suggest the blueberries…you can caramelize or reduce them by putting them over a stove in a pan and adding some brown or cane sugar to the mixture stir until the berries are soft and their juice is coming out. This would make a good topping for your cheesecake…yum!

Id say blueberries or crushed pecans on top with a little bit of chocolate syrup
