Where Can I Purchase Instant Espresso Powder?

January 17th, 2010 by Rexx

I have a couple of dessert recipes that call for “Instant Espresso Powder”. But I can’t find it anywhere, even on the ‘Net. I can find plenty of instant *coffee*, but no “instant espresso”.
Any suggestions? Or should I just use double-strength instant coffee, because really, that’s all espresso is anyway.

Instant coffee will be a weaker flavor than espresso.
I located some for sale via gourmetsleuth.comhttp://www.gourmetsleuth.com/pDetail.asp…
The gourmet sleuth says that to substitute for instant espresso you want fresh brewed espresso, double strength.

If you don’t want to shop online, you might try local gourmet shops, italian speciality stores may have Medagllia d’Oro and you might find some in a Hispanic speciality shop. Some grocery stores have ethnic aisles. If you have a good one, try the latin foods aisle.
Author John Kessler sympathizes with your predicament in his article about instant espress and discovered that Rowland Coffee Roasters of Miami makes Medaglia d’Oro and Cafe Bustelo. He located Cafe Bustelo in his local grocery store in the latin foods aisle.
Good luck with the new recipes :)

Medaglia d’oro has an instant espresso that I found in the supermarket, but I live in NY which is a microcosm of the world
And I hope you are not making tirami su with instant anything! it would be a waste of energy.

Any local store. Buy instant coffee, such as Nescafe. Try looking in the mexican food aisle of the market, that is where they usually have the strong stuff. But regardless, Nescafe instant coffee will do.
    Making tiaramasu?
