Ive made this cake many times before, but always ends up undercooked in the middle and burnt on the edges because the only recipes i can find call for tube pans. The kind of recipe i want is like this one:http://southernfood.about.com/od/coffeec… but without the tube pan.
If you can find one that would be great
thanks a ton.

for me it would have to be Secret Recipe. I believe they’re also slightly cheaper than Starbucks, and a little bigger too.

My mother used to make a brown sugar coffee cake that was soured with vinegar. It was a German or Polish recipe. She passed away five years ago and the recipe was inadvertently given away or tossed. I miss that coffee cake so much and want to know if anyone has the recipe. I have tried several that I found on the net, but they just don’t taste the same. I would be forever grateful. Thank you.

I can find many recipies for either of these but since I have not ever made them before, which is a good recipe to make, thank you for your time.

I am going to make a coffee cake that is just your regular coffee cake, but in the topping it calls for walnuts or pecans, how do you think almonds would taste instead? Also, does anyone have a recipe or can think up one for a thin icing I can drizzle over the cake once it is finished that has almond extract in it? Thank you

Try this one: 4 ounces each of butter, sugar and flour; 2 eggs and camp coffee essence (available in most major supermarkets) to your taste. Cream butter and sugar til pale and fluffy. Lightly beat eggs and gradually incorporate into mix. Once all egg added stir in coffee essence then gently fold in flour. Bake at 180 degrees Cent. For 15 mins (approx) – depends on oven. To ice, incorporate camp coffee essence into icing sugar until desired consistency. Optional extra – sprinkle with finely chopped walnuts.
Next step: enjoy with a cuppa.
NOTE: This will make a 7 inch round cake. This recipe is easy to increase quantity. Ratio of dry ingredients (ie flour, sugar, butter) to eggs is 2:1.

i always make a sour cream coffee cake when i have some extra sour cream (the recipe calls for 1 cup of sour cream). i have some plain yogurt which is getting ready to expire. can i substitute the yogurt for the sour cream. i use 1 tsp of baking soda in the recipe for leavening and i know that the soda reacts with the sour cream to make the cake rise. if yogurt is an acceptable substitute, would i have to adjust the soda, or would i use another type of leavening instead (exp. baking powder). thanks to any who answer. p.s. if you would like the original recipe, just send me an answer and i will email you the recipe. suki
