I have a recipe and it says to grind the spices in a coffee grinder. I have all of the spices ground already and really do not want to buy an appliance I’ll use once a year.

At $2.69 for the big one (in TN), every day, it’s getting expensive to keep up my habit……does anyone have a recipe for anything close? Specifically what kind of coffee to use, and specific proportions!? It’s great for my morning breakfast on the run! Thanks.

I am thinking about making a batch of homemade coffee liquor (kaluah). All the recipes require vodka to be the main alcohol ingredient, but I’m wondering since it’s going to be flavored with coffee and vanilla and such does it neccesarily have to be top shelf stuff? I was going to make a lot of it, so it wouldn’t be very “cost effective” if I were to buy two handles of Grey Goose or something when Smirnoff would work just as well.
Will it change the flavor of my homemade kaluah if I use cheaper stuff?

the maker of this product is Isaia, you used to be able to get recipes to make kaluah with the coffee essence…but can’t remember the recipe

Coffeecakes aren’t usually layer cakes. They aren’t quite as sweet as a regular cake; and have a larger texture to the batter (more like sweet breads) – that’s why they’re appropriate for breakfast with coffee:) … You could do a spice cake though, in layers with buttercream filling and icing (although I think cream cheese frosting is better)

It is a Yemeni drink, brewed from the husks of coffee, rather than the berries, plus spices that might include coriander and cinnamon. I only had it once, on one of those endless trips from office to office in one of the ministries. Politeness dictated that I be served a beverage by each person I spoke with before he sent me to another office to speak with another person who couldn’t answer my question but sent me to yet another office. Refusing would have been an insult. By the time I was served ghosh (or however it should be transliterated), I was concentrating more on my full urinary bladder than on my taste buds. Now, I would like to give the drink another chance, assuming that I can get (1) a recipe and (2) some coffee grounds.

They are wonderful and I do not live close enough to a caribou to enjoy them as often as Id like to. I love making scones and they have the best Ive had that I didnt actually make myself.

First you must make the Chicken Tikka.
The word Tikka means bits, piecces or chunks. Chicken Tikka is an easy-to-cook dish in which chicken chunks are marinated in special spices and then grilled on skewers. This is one of India’s most popular dishes. Chicken Tikka can also be made into Chicken Tikka Masala, a tasty gravy dish.
Ingredients:
* 1 cup fresh yoghurt (should not be sour)
* 1 cup finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
* 2 tbsps ginger paste
* 3 tbsps garlic paste
* 3-4 tbsps garam masala
* 6 peppercorns/ 2 dry red chillies
* 3 tbsps lime/ lemon juice
* 1/2 tsp orange food coloring
* 1 kg chicken (breast or thigh) skinless and cut into 2″ chunks
* 1 large onion cut into very thin rings
* Lime/ Lemon wedges to garnish
* 1 tsp Chaat Masala (available at most Indian groceries)
Preparation:
* Grind the chopped coriander (keep some aside for garnishing) and all other marinade ingredients (except yoghurt) to a smooth paste in a food processor.
* Pour the above mix into a large bowl and add yoghurt. Mix well. Add the chicken pieces and mix well. Cover the bowl and refrigerate. Allow to marinate overnight.
* Thread the chicken onto skewers and keep ready.
* Preheat your oven or grill to a medium high temperature (200 C/ 400F/ Gas Mark 6).
* Place the skewers on the grill racks in your oven with a tray underneath to catch drippings. Roast open till the chicken is browned on all sides and tender.
* Remove from skewers and put the chicken in a plate.
* Put the onion rings in a separate bowl and squeeze lime juice over them. Now sprinkle the chaat masala over them and mix well so the onions are fully coated.
* Garnish the Chicken Tikka with these onion rings and serve.

Not only is Chicken Tikka delicious the day you make it, if you’re lucky to have some left over the next day, make it into a sandwich! Here’s how…
Ingredients:
* Leftover Chicken Tikka
* 4 slices of sandwich bread of your choice
* Butter
* 1 large onion thinly sliced into rings
* Juice of 1 lime
* 1 tsp Chaat Masala (available at most Indian grocery stores)
* 4-5 tbsps Mint-Coriander Chutney (see recipe below)
Preparation:
* Put the onion rings in a bowl and squeeze lime juice over them. Now sprinkle the chaat masala over them and mix well so the onions are fully coated.
* Lay the slices of bread on a clean cutting board and butter. Now spread a generous layer of Mint-Coriander Chutney on the bread.
* Chop the Chicken Tikka into slices and lay on the bread to cover the entire surface of 2 of the slices.
* Now add onion as per preference, on top of the chicken.
* Cover with another slice of bread.
* Trim edges if preferred and cut in half and serve.

This basic chutney is perfect for using as a dipping sauce with cutlets and samosas or to serve with main course dishes like biryani.Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
* 1 bunch fresh mint
* 1 bunch fresh coriander
* 6-8 cloves garlic
* 1″ piece of ginger
* 2 green chillies
* 1 tsp sugar
* 1/2 tsp salt
* 2 tsps lime juice
Preparation:
* Cut off roots from both mint and coriander, peel garlic and ginger and remove stalks from green chillies. Wash all these ingredients thoroughly.
* Grind these and all the remaining ingredients into a smooth paste in a food processor.
* Chill and serve.

Money is tight, and well…i wanna make my own tasty snacks, so i can still walk into starbucks to buy a coffee, and avoid the heartache of not being able to afford a pastry. I have some frozen strawberries, and some graham crackers i would like to get creative with…i saw a recipe that required fresh strawberries…just a thought?!?! any help is greatly appreciated..
